Description
This heritage walk take you through the heart of the city, past bustling streets, alleyways, old market squares and two UNESCO World Heritage Sites - Kathmandu Durbar Square and Swoyambhunath or Monkey Temple.
We will start tour by walking from your hotel to Ason, the oldest market in Kathmandu, where you can witness the daily life of the locals. As you walk, follow the bustling streets, shops, squares and quaint temples. Then head to Kathmandu Durbar Square, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, historical and religious site, home to many temples, palaces and shrines. Take a stroll down nearby famous Freak Street, the most famous intersection in the hippie era.
Then continue to the Swoyambhunath, also known as Monkey Temple, another UNESCO World Heritage Site, perched on top of a hill that will give you the most breathtaking panoramic view of the entire Kathmandu Valley. Then walk back to Thamel or alternatively you can catch a taxi from Swayambhunath to Thamel.
