Description
Ghandruk Trek is a short and easy trek that takes you through adventurous trails. The trails include a lush forest of rhododendron along with terraced fields, beautiful flora and fauna, and beautiful mountain range. You’re free from the risk of altitude sickness. It ends within a week and you require no acclimatization days.
Ghandruk (1,940 m) is a village located in Kaski District. It is a typical settlement of Gurung peoples and their culture. Ghandruk trek is one of the popular trekking trails in the Annapurna Region.
Ghandruk trek starts after you drive towards Pokhara from Kathmandu. On the next day, you’ll drive from Pokhara to Nayapool, starting the trek towards Ghandruk from Nayapul. During the trek, you'll experience the settlement of different ethnic groups like Magars and Gurung. They are pleasing people who live up in the hills, Himalayan ranges, and beautiful landscapes.
After you reach Ghandruk village or popularly known as the Stone village, you can visit the Gurung Museum. You will also see different mountains from Ghandruk like Annapurna South (7,219m), Annapurna II (7,937 m), Gangapurna (7,455 m), Fishtail (6,993 m), and Hiunchuli (6,441 m). Then on the next day, you trek to Tolka from Ghandruk and gradually ascend to Australian Camp (2,232 m). Australian Camp will be the height elevation of the trek. You’ll be crossing 2,000 m and witness some of the scenic views of the Himalayan range from Australian Camp.
Then on the last day of your trek, you’ll descend down along the stone staircase to reach Kande. After your trek journey ends, you’ll drive to Pokhara. On the last day, you’ll reach Kathmandu and then we’ll escort you to the Tribhuvan International Airport and then your trip ends. If you want additional days on your trip then you can inform us before the trip.
You’ll start the preparation of the trip and head towards Pokhara (6 hours) on a private jeep from Kathmandu. Your guide will help you with the trek preparation and throughout the whole journey of your trek.
Pokhara is a famous tourist destination for the people who come to visit Nepal. Pokhara is full of natural and cultural heritage like the lake, cave, stupas and many more. After you reach Pokhara, there will be a small welcome program for you. Overnight stay at a hotel in Pokhara.
After your breakfast, a short ride from Pokhara which takes about one and a half hours through Lumle village brings you to Nayapul.
You’ll be trekking towards Ghandruk from Nayapool. Ghandruk is famous for providing amazing views of the mountain range, culture, and stone roofed village. Ghandruk village is also known as Stone village. You’ll be ascending uphill from Nayapool and walk through a stone path and reach a prosperous town called Birethanti (1,065 m) and cross the Modi river.
After passing through a sub-tropical forest, flatlands, beautiful mountain range and villages, you’ll reach the beautiful Ghandruk village. You’ll be trekking for 4-5 hours while covering a distance of 9 km. Overnight stay at a guesthouse in Ghandruk.
After a well-spent night in Ghandruk, we will continue our trek to Tolka. After your breakfast, you’ll start the trek by descending down to the Modi River. Then you start to ascend uphill towards Landruk village (1,545 m). It is a big village and settlement for Gurung, Magar, and the Brahmin community.
The trail then ascends towards Tolka. It passes through different villages, mountain ranges, and adventurous trails. After you cross a stream and a gentle climb will take you to Tolka. You’ll be trekking for 4 hours and cover a distance of 13 km. Overnight stay at a guesthouse in Tolka.
On this day you’ll be trekking to Australian camp from Tolka. Australian camp is on top of a beautiful hill offering excellent views of the valley and Annapurna Mountain range.
While passing through beautiful rhododendron forest, villages and Himalayan ranges the trail gradually ascend towards Australian camp. After walking for 3-4 hours, you’ll reach the Australian camp. You’ll witness some of the amazing Himalayan ranges like Annapurna South (7,219m), Machhapuchhre (6,993m), Hiunchuli (6,440m), and Lamjung Himal (6,983 m). Overnight stay at a guesthouse in Australian Camp.
After your breakfast, you’ll start the trek early in the morning from Australian camp to Kande. Kande is a small roadside village of the Kaski district. It is the starting point of the Dhampus trek and Mardi Himal trek. You’ll descend downhill through a stone-paved staircase trail for about one and a half hours to reach Kande.
After you reach Kande, you’ll rest and enjoy the beautiful village for a while and take a short drive towards Pokhara. It is an hour’s drive from Kande to Pokhara. After you reach Pokhara, you’ll have plenty of leisure time. You can explore Pokhara and enjoy your time there. Pokhara is an excellent place for tourists and even for the locals. So if you want additional days on Pokhara, make sure you inform us before booking the trip. Overnight stay at a hotel in Pokhara.
At the end of our trip, we return to Kathmandu from Pokhara on a tourist bus early in the morning. 7 hours of scenic drive to the bustling city of Kathmandu. After you reach Kathmandu, there will be a farewell program for you and we depart. You can also spend an extra day in Pokhara or Kathmandu, just be sure to inform us about it before the booking of the trip.

Ghandruk Trek Difficulty
Ghandruk trek is one of the short and easy treks full of fun and adventurous trails in Nepal. There is no age restriction for this trek, anyone can complete this trek successfully.
During the trek, you don’t need to worry about altitude sickness because you’ll be trekking till the elevation of 2,232 meters. You will witness the amazing mountain range Annapurna South (7,219m), Annapurna II (7,937 m), Gangapurna (7,455 m), Fishtail (6,993 m), and Hiunchuli (6,441 m).
If you’re not physically fit, then you can still complete this trek. If you face some difficulty during the trek the guide will help you. You’ll be trekking slowly and take lots of rest during the trek. However, you’ll need some useful trekking equipment for the trek, your guide will help you with that.
Best Time for Ghandruk trek
Trekking Seasons in Nepal are usually autumn (September to November) and spring (March to May). But this trek doesn’t ascend as high as other treks so, it is suitable for you to go in winters too. The mountain views and the whole Pokhara valley are fun and good in December and January.
Food and Accommodation
We provide you with the best food and accommodation in Kathmandu and Pokhara. But after your trek starts you’ll be staying on the average guesthouse. We provide the local food menu like ‘Dal Bhat’ or food as per your preference in Kathmandu and Pokhara. In Ghandruk, Tolka and Australian camp you’ll be treating yourself with typical Nepali food and different ethnic cuisines. You can even enjoy hot chocolates, drinks of different variety and snacks. Breakfast service will be as per its menu on the same guesthouse where you spent the night.
The rooms in the hotel will be clean and hygienic with comfortable accommodation. The food will be hygienic with the proper energy required for the trek. If you have personal preference over food or accommodation then make sure you inform us before a week of your reservation.
