There is no doubt that every tourist who come to Nepal has at least visited once in Thamel; one of the major tourist hub in Kathmandu. It is also the centre of the tourist industry in Kathmandu for over four decades. It has a narrow roads full of hotels, lodges, pubs, travel agency, restaurants, bars and others. Motorbikes, Cars, cycle, rickshaws, two-wheelers and taxis commute these narrow streets alongside hundreds of pedestrians. But, there is good news that we would like to share with you all.
With the joint efforts of Metropolitan Traffic Police Division, Thamel Tourism Development Council, Local Activist, Tourism Entrepreneurs and other local bodies made possible to make one of the busiest tourist hub as vehicle free zone from October 22, 2017 (Sunday).
President of Thamel Tourism Development Council Mr. Sameer Gurung said, “We, along with various stakeholders, have been finally able to implement the long discussed program to make this tourist centre less chaotic by reducing traffic flow.”
It is surely a welcome move from Thamel Tourism Development Council and other concerned bodies for implementing this campaign. Now, both domestic and international tourists are encouraged to visit vibrant Thamel which is out of traffic and pollution. See you in Thamel.
