Tamang heritage trail trek is a new way to experience a cultural trek in which you can learn about one of Nepal’s Tibetan origin ethnic group. It is a special culture heritage trail trekking route that highlights an ancient rich cultural heritage of the Tamang people in Langtang valley. Previously a restricted region near the Tibetan border, the unexplored northern Langtang valley has recently been developed into the Tamang Heritage Trail. The people in this area are mostly of Tamang whose culture and crafts have remained unaltered.

Major Highlights of Tamang Heritage Trail Trek:

  • Hot spring waters at Tatopani
  • Enjoy spectacular views of Ganesh Himal, the Langtang Himalayas, and the Gosainkunda range

Day 1Arrival in Tribhuvan Int'l Airport, Kathmandu (1320m)

Welcome to Tribhuvan Int’l Airport, Kathmandu, the capital city of Nepal! One of the representatives from Mount Mania will be waiting to welcome you with fresh Nepali garlands and then transfer to your hotel by private vehicle. You will meet with trek guide and then brief about your trek.

Day 2Drive from Kathmandu to Syabrubesi (1550m)

After breakfast in Hotel, we will start our drive from Kathmandu to Syabrubeshi which is 145 km and takes about 6-7 hours. We drive along the scenic banks of Trishuli River with beautiful views of valleys, pasture, rivers and mountains. After reaching the destination. We will check-in to the hotel and spend the overnight.

Day 3Trek from Syabrubesi to Gatlang (2238m)

After breakfast, we will trek from Syabrubesi. It is the common starting point for the Langtang Valley trek as well as the Gosainkunda trek, but instead of heading in these directions, ascend a viewpoint for an hour and a half for a fantastic view of Ganesh Himal, the Gosainkunda range, and the Goljang Valley. Head down to the Goljang Valley (about an hour’s walk) and stop there for lunch. In the afternoon, trek for about three hours to reach Gatlang, a beautiful Tamang village. Overnight in Teahouse.

Day 4Trek from Gatlang to Tatopani (2380m)

After breakfast, our trek begins by descending to Thangbuchet. After having lunch in Thangbuchet, the trail heads up again, across a hanging bridge and climbing to Tatopani, your stop for the night. The town’s name literally means ‘hot water’ in Nepali, and there are towns of this name all over Nepal. Unsurprisingly, here you can enjoy the natural hot springs, with water that comes straight out of the ground. Locals believe that the waters have a healing quality, and it will certainly ease away any aches and pains from the trek. Overnight in Teahouse.

Day 5Trek from Tatopani to Thuman (2240m)

As always, first, we will have a hot breakfast. Today’s trail ascends to Nagthali Danda (3,300 m), a high, open grassland with amazing views of the Himalayas. Stop at the delightful Brimdang village for lunch en route, then continue up to Nagthali Danda. On arrival, stop for a masala tea, prepared by the gompa’s caretaker. Then, continue down to Thuman, a Tamang village with friendly people. Overnight in Teahouse.

Day 6Trek from Thuman to Briddim (2240m)

After having hot breakfast, our walk begins along a falter section of trail, then descends to Timure. It follows part of the old trade route to Tibet, and in fact, Tibet is not far away—just three hours’ walk. However, it’s not possible to walk across the border these days, and there’s a heavy police presence along the roads in this area. After lunch, the trail continues to Briddim, another Tamang village, where you’ll stay in a local home for a truly unique experience. Overnight in Teahouse.

Day 7 Trek from Briddim to Syabrubesi

After morning breakfast, we will take an easy three-hour walk back down to Syabrubesi. We will have lunch and then spend the afternoon relaxing or exploring. Syabrubesi is a small town, and there are some shops selling local handicrafts made by women. Also, you can visit the Chilime Hydropower project and natural hot spring. Overnight in Teahouse.

Day 8Drive from Syabrubesi to Kathmandu

After having breakfast in the early morning. We will start our journey back to Kathmandu. Later, we can enjoy the evening walk around Thamel – the tourist spots in the capital city. Our guide will help to find the shop where you can buy souvenirs from Nepal. One of the Mount Mania representatives will invite you to attend a farewell dinner with a cultural show.
