Khopra Danda Trek Itinerary
Day 1: Drive to Pokhara
We will drive for about 7-8 hours with enjoying scenic views along the road to Pokhara via Prithivi national highway. An alternative way to reach Pokhara is by taking a flight from Kathmandu to Pokhara for 35 minutes.
Day 2: Drive to Nayapul. Trek to Ghandruk
Altitude: Nayapul (1070m) and Ghandruk (1950m)
After having a breakfast, we will take a taxi from our hotel to Nayapul which is about one hour drive. Then we will start our first trek to Ghandruk. One of the largest Gurung settlement of Annapurna region where we could explore typical local tradition and lifestyle.
Day 3: Trek to Tadapani
In today’s trek, we will continue ascends through Bhaisi Kharka and into the dense rhododendron forests. After an hour, we will reach to Tadapani where we get to enjoy excellent views of Machhapuchhre, Annapurna and Hiunchuli mountains.
Day 4: Trek to Bayeli Kharka
We will start our trek by entering into a beautiful rhododendron and oak forest on an upward trail. Then after a small descent, we will continue climbing to a hill through a rhododendron forest. If the weather is good, we can view Annapurna South and Machhapuchhre clearly. Again, we will continue ascending up to Bayeli Kharka. From the village, we enjoy mesmerizing views of Mt. Dhaulagiri which is the seventh highest mountain in the world
Day 5: Trek to Upper Chistibung
We will descend through an open ground and beautiful forest to reach the pastures of Lower Chistibung. Next, we will ascend to gradually through a forest before reaching Upper Chistibung. Upper Chistibung has a temporary herder’s settlement. If you’re lucky you might even spot the colorful Lophophorus (Danphe), the national bird of Nepal, as well as Himalayan Thar on the grassy ridge high above the trail.
Day 6: Trek to Khopra Ridge
Today’s trek, we will pass through alpine meadows and pastures to reach Khopra. Upon reaching Khopra, we will go for a short walk down Khopra Ridge to a viewpoint overlooking Kali Gandaki river far below in this deep valley. Not to miss the stunning mountain panorama including Mt. Dhaulagiri, Nilgiri, and Annapurna South
Day 7: Explore Khayer Lake
Special day, we will be exploring around Khayer Lake. Reaching to khayer lake will offer excellent views of Fang (7,647m) and the surrounding mountains. Considered to be a sacred lake by the Hindus, it is believed that bathing in the lake will help attain Nirvana. As Hinduism and Buddhism are closely related in Nepal, we can even see a number of Hindu and Buddhist shrines on the lakeside.
Day 8: Trek to Swanta Village
Our trail will descend off the hillside and continue downhill. Views of Mount Dhaulagiri with the mountain providing a lovely backdrop to the terraced fields and traditional houses in the nearby villages is the major highlights of the trip.
Day 9: Trek to Ulleri
Passing small village fields, river and a quick look at the local water mill. We will cross the suspension bridge and head upwards to the village of Chittre, where we reach Ghorepani. After Ghorepani, we will descend through rhododendron forest leading to our stop Ulleri.
Day 10: Trek to Nayapul. Drive to Pokhara
Khopra Ridge Trek ends at Nayapul where our private vehicle will pick up and drive to Pokhara, the beautiful lake city. In between the journey, we will enjoy the amazing hill landscape of western Nepal.
Day 11: Drive to Kathmandu
7-8 hours driving from Pokhara to Kathmandu will be a fantastic experience as we drive past many small towns on the way. We will see rural settlements, gushing rivers, terraces, and green rural landscapes.

Best Season for Khopra Danda Trek
Spring and Autumn are the two best season for Khopra Trek. Spring season starts from March to May. Whereas, the Autumn season begins from September to December.
You can view the national flower of Nepal – Rhododendron blooming in spring. Trekking in autumn has an advantage of watching mountain in clear blue skies.
