Everest Base Camp Trek Overland via Salleri is a energetic trekking, which is a trip through the untouched part of the Everest region. It covers a less touristic section of the stunning Everest region, which is one of the popular treks.

Everest Base Camp trek via Salleri is not a new route but it is new access to Everest region trekking by Jeep transportation to Salleri. The drive to Salleri will take around 7-8 hours where you can view the diverse landscape, Sun Koshi river, Dudh Koshi river, and green valley.

This trekking is designed for those who want to explore more adventurous activities without taking a flight from Kathmandu to Lukla. Within this trekking journey, you can experience hillside, river, forest, and landscapes much closer.

Everest Base Camp Trek Overland Itinerary

Day 1Arrival in Kathmandu (1,320m), TIA Airport and Drop to Hotel

Welcome to Tribhuvan Int’l Airport, Kathmandu, the capital city of Nepal! One of the representatives from Mount Mania will be waiting to welcome you with fresh Nepali garlands and then transfer to your hotel by private vehicle. You will meet with trek guide and then brief about Salleri Everest Base Camp Trek (Overland)

Day 2Kathmandu to Salleri (2309m): 8-9-hours

After early breakfast in Hotel. We will take a jeep from Kathmandu to Salleri. Salleri is the headquarter of Solukhumbu District in the Sagarmatha Zone of northern Nepal. It will take 8-9 hours (270km) of drive-in BP Highway. You can enjoy the landscapes and follow the Sun Koshi River. After crossing a Dudh Koshi river, we will arrive at our first stop destination; Salleri. Lastly, overnight at teahouse.

Day 3Trek from Salleri to Nunthala (2190m): 5-6 hours

After breakfast, today will be a quite a long days walk to Nunthala, the walking from here is marvelous along the hillside, passing through forests of pine, oak and rhododendron and other high snow-capped mountains of Khumbu, for two and a half an hour brings to the first house at Ringmo where the road follows the same route to Solu. Walk from here heads up on the gradual path through the village of Rimgmo, leaving Ringmo from the large mani ‘prayer’ wall, an hour or less steep climb through the pine forest reaches towards Trakshindu pass at 3,070m marked with mani and chorten, a great view of several striking peaks including Kusum Kangguru, Thamersarkhu and Kantega to the north east. On the east side of the pass the path descend all the way to our destination at Nunthala passing through Trakshindu Gompa., which was set up around 1946 by a lama from Thyangboche monastery, this is also a home of the renowned late Babu Chiri Sherpa who climbed Everest 11th times and the fastest man to speed to Everest summit and the only climber who has stayed on top of Everest for more than 21 hours. From Trakshindo walk leads downhill for more than 2 hours through the cool shade of the forest and then coming to Nunthala also known as Manidingma. Overnight at Guest House.

Day 4Trek to Puiyan (2300m): 6-7 hours

After having a hot breakfast. Our Morning journey starts with a descend walk after leaving the suburb of the village, following the steep downhill slope through the terraces and forest where you can often see Languar monkeys all the way to the suspension bridge over the Dudh Koshi, after a brief moment here crossing over the river, our route leads to a gradual winding uphill climb for an hour or more to the Rai settlement at Jubing at 1,675m, the areas around here are fairly warm. From here the path follows through stands of bamboo near to the houses, the walk continues towards Kharikhola 2,200m, a village of predominately Sherpa and Magar inhabitants. After a break here at Kharikhola heading to the next ridge by crossing the river of the Kharikhola with a steep climb for an hour or more towards a small settlement of Bupsa. After an hour walk, we will be at our destination for that day- Puiyan. Overnight at Guest House.

Day 5Trek to Phakding ( 2652m): 6-7 hours

After having a hot breakfast. We will start our trekking to Phakding. The trail climbs for about an hour after Puiyan to a ridge at 2800m. Then up to another ridge. Passing through Lukla Airport follow a gentle climb up the mountainside on the left bank of the Dudh Koshi River. Along the way, you will have a view of Mt Nupla (5885m), Kusum Kangaru (6367m) and the Mount Kwongde Range. We then take an easy walk for about two hours to Phakding village for the overnight stop and rest of the time stroll around the village for local knowledge. Overnight at Guest House

Day 6Trek to Namche Bazzar (3440m): 6-7 hours

After breakfast in Phakding before gearing up for the trek to Namche Bazaar, the biggest sherpa village in Nepal. Our trail takes us first over the Dudhkoshi River via a long suspension bridge, and then through a beautiful pine forest to Monjo, about two hours away. Soon thereafter, we will approach the entrance to Sagarmatha National Park for a brief permit check and then descend to Dudh Kosi River (spotting Maney stones along the way!) en route to Jorsale. We will stop for Lunch, and then it’s uphill to Namche. Our trekking path along the riverbank crossing one of the highest bridge in Khumbu Region- which is the Hillary Suspension Bridge. From Top Danda, you will see the first glimpse of Mount Everest. After one hour trek, we will overnight at Namche Bazaar – One and only gateway to Everest.

Day 7Day hike around Namche

Next day is all about acclimatization. We will hike to Everest View Hotel (3880m) where you can view Mt. Everest, Mt. Lotse, Mt. Nutse, Mt. Amadablam and other mountains. This hike will help speed acclimatization for trekking to Everest Base Camp. Also, you can check out the Sherpa museum for an overview of the Sherpa culture and history of mountaineering. On Saturdays, the Hatt Bazaar is open for trading and an intimate look at the locals’ marketplace. It is part of the larger Namche Bazaar, a shopping hub filled with all manner of trekking and mountaineering clothing and gears. Namche Bazaar, is the last stop for exchanging foreign currency and withdrawing money from ATM.

Day 8Trek to Tengboche (3880m): 4-5 hours

After Breakfast in Namche Bazaar. Get ready towards Everest Base Camp trek. You can enjoy the breathtaking views of the Himalayas – Everest, Nuptse, Lhotse, Ama Dablam, Thamserku and Kwangde – are some of the highlights you don’t want to miss. A short drop takes us to the riverside, then it’s across the river upwards through the forest pass. Brace your legs for a continual uphill trek at this point, alternating between a gradual grade and some seriously steep ground! Our destination, Tengboche, is known as one of the most beautiful places in the Everest region. Its views, which include Ama Dablam, are legendary. We’ll stop in on the Tengboche monastery, which is one of the largest monasteries in Khumbu. Enjoy the guided tour of the monastery grounds, followed by chanting and prayer with the resident Buddhist monks. At this monastery, Lama will give you a blessing for successful trekking and expedition ahead.

Day 9Trek to Dingboche (4410m): 6- 7 hrs

After hot breakfast in Tengboche. Our trek will start through the rhododendron forest to Deboche followed by a bridge over the raging ‘Imja Khola’ River. We’ll pass the valley and cross last suspension bridge for Everest Base Camp Trek then we will reach to Pangboche village, the biggest settlement of Sherpas in the region. Enjoy a great opportunity to observe a typical Sherpa village and have a lunch. If you want, you can hike to the Pangboche monastery, one of the oldest in the area. After hiking to Pangboche, we will be heading towards wide valley which has a dry atmosphere and deserted mountains. Our last stop will be at Dingboche.

Day 10Acclimatization Day: Hike to Nagarjun hill (5080m) 4-5 hours

Accimilitization in Dingboche will be the last stop for your trip. Utilize your day by exploring Dingboche and hike up to Nagarjun Hill (5083m). From that hill, enjoy the Island Peak Summit, Mt. Makalu, Mt. Amadablam, Lobuche Peak, Glacier Lake, the high passes of Amphu Laptsa, and Makalu Barun National Park. After getting back from a day hike. We will lunch at Teahouse and take a rest. If you have any clothes to wash, then you can do it at that time.

Day 11Trek to Lobuche (4930m): 4 - 5 hrs

After breakfast, the trek will move gradually and be more challenging, due to the higher altitude. We’ll pass Thukla, but not before a tough, steep walk to the top of a high hill. Here are the memorial stupas dedicated to the climbers and trekkers who lost their lives to Everest over the years. The next part of our adventure brings over a rocky mountain landscape to Lobuche, a small settlement with amazing views of Mt. Lobuche, Mt. Pumori and the Nuptse. Prepare to make yourself warm up for a cold night because we are now almost at 5000m above sea level and the evenings can really cold.

Day 12Trek to Everest Base Camp (5,364m) and then Back to Gorekshep (5180m) : 7-8 hours

After breakfast, we will head to our final destination for Everest Base Camp. On the way to our destination, we’ll approach the famed Khumbu Glacier and icefall, located on the slopes of Everest. At the Base Camp, our objective, you’ll have an opportunity (during the spring climbing season) to meet climbers attempting to scale the mountain’s summit. Don’t forget to take out your cameras to capture mesmerizing views of majestic mountains. After enjoying the sunset, we’ll head back to Gorekshep for rest. We will overnight at Gorak Shep.

Day 13Early morning climb to Kalapather (5545m) trek back to Pheriche (4200m): 7-8 hours

Today, we will wake up before sunrise to trek towards Kalapathar (which means “black rock”). The day’s first light will illuminate your spectacular view of Nuptse Nup, Changtse, and Lhotse. Kalapathar is one of the best viewpoints of Everest and its region. It is also the highest point that you can be during this trip. You can capture amazing pictures of mainly Khumbu Glacier and Mt. Everest. After clicking some amazing pictures, time to get back to Gorekshep for breakfast and down in the direction of Pheriche, our stop for accommodation.

Day 14Trek to Namche (3440m): 6 -7 hours

After breakfast in Pheriche, we will head to Tengboche which is mainly downhill. After lunch, then we will ascend to Kyangjuma. Trek from Kyangjuma to Namche is quite easy. Don’t miss to enter a cafe in Namche which serve the best coffee with fresh bakery items.

Day 15Trek to Lukla (2860m) : 6-7 Hours

After breakfast, we will trek towards the Hillary Suspension Bridge and then pass through several local villages. In the evening, we will celebrate the victory of completing the trek. Last night to experience a teahouse in Mountains with your entire trek team.

Day 16Flight from Lukla to Kathmandu (35 minutes)

After early breakfast in Lukla, we will take a 30-minute flight back to Kathmandu from Lukla. This ends the trekking part of the journey. One last you can revel in the different sights of the landscapes while on the flight. After landing in the Kathmandu airport, you will be directly transferred to the Hotel where you will stay overnight. One of the Mount Mania representatives will invite you to attend a farewell dinner with a cultural show. Enjoy to the fullest.

Day 17Final Departure to TIA Airport

Mount Mania representative will help you to transport to Tribhuvan International Airport (TIA), Kathmandu by private vehicle before 3 hours to your scheduled flight.
