Bird Watching Tour in Nepal

Bird watching tour in Nepal will first take you to Phulchowki Hill and provide an opportunity to explore around 500+ specifies of birds in the capital city alone. Similarly, we will be heading toward Chitwan National Park and river ride where we can view around 544 known birds.

Nepal is a paradise for watching different species of birds. The diverse Himalayan landscape and its ecosystem offer to explore more than 900 species of birds. Commonly found birds are: Bengal florican, Peafowl, White-rumped vulture, and bar-headed geese. Not to miss that Nepal is the home for about 10% of the world population of birds.

On our last day of bird watching, we will be heading to Pokhara, a city of the lake. We can view varieties of both permanent and migratory birds. On our front view, we can also enjoy the soothing fewa lake, view mountains and panoramic Pokhara valley.

List of Birds in Nepal

Phulchowki Hill:

Spring babbler, Mountain Hawk Eagle, Rufous Bellied Pied Woodpeckers and the Black-throated Parrotbill.  Rare birds such as; The Blue-Napped Pitta and a Redheaded Trojan are found in the area.

Shivapuri National Park:

Kalij Pheasant, Hill Partridge, Great Barbet, Wedge-Tailed Green Pigeon, Eurasian Jay, Nepal Fulvetta, Asian Paradise-Flycatcher, Rufous-bellied Woodpecker, Mountain Scops Owl and Grey-winged Blackbird. Also, rare birds such as the White-rumped Vulture, and Hodgson’s Bush chat can also be view in this area. 

Chitwan National Park:

Blue-Throat (thrush), Long-tailed Nightjar, Great Barbet, red-billed blue magpie, Indian Peafowl, and Tick ell’s red-breasted blue flycatcher.


Ducks, Pheasant-tailed Jacana; Hopei Grey-bellied Tessie’s, common pintail snipe, bulbuls, Besra, Red-thigh Falconet, Pallid and Pied Harriers, Eurasian Griffon, Red-headed and Eurasian Black Vultures, Kalij Pheasant, etc. In the winter season, you can view birds such as Egrets, Herons, Pipits, Buntings, Gulls, Terns, Ducks, and Falcons etc. 

Bardi National Park: 

Lesser florican, Bengal florican, Silver-eared Mesia, Sarus Crane and more than 200+ different species of birds. 

Koshi Tappu Wildlife Reserve:

Ibis, storks, swamp partridges (Francolins glairs), herons, egrets, Duck, Bengal Florian (Epidotic Bengalensis), Black Ibis, Honey Kites, Ospreys, etc.
