Annapurna Sanctuary Trek

Annapurna Sanctuary Trek is a popular trek in the Annapurna region which commonly starts or finishes in Nayapul and reaches the Annapurna Base Camp. It is surrounded by a ring of mountains, the Annapurna range. Out of 14 mountains (stands at over 8000m), Annapurna I was first summited in the world on June 3, 1950, by French expedition group.

With the only entrance, a narrow valley between the peaks of Hiunchuli and Machhapuchhre, where run-off from glaciers drain into Modi Khola River, the Sanctuary was unknown by outsiders until 1956.

Best Time:
  • Spring (Mar, Apr, May): You can see the national flower of Nepal rhododendron, green forest, best mountain view

  • Rest of the month: Monsoon is also fine but it’s a rainy season, you should have a raincoat, be careful from the leech. In this season, most preferable for nature photographers who like flora and fauna, green forest, river, waterfalls and many more

Annapurna Sanctuary Trek Itinerary

Day 1Arrival at Tribhuvan Int'l Airport, Kathmandu (1320m)

Welcome to Tribhuvan Int’l Airport, Kathmandu, the capital city of Nepal! One of the representatives from Mount Mania will be waiting to welcome you with fresh Nepali garlands and then transfer to your hotel by private vehicle. You will meet with trek guide and then brief about your trek.

Day 2Drive from Kathmandu to Pokhara (820m)

After breakfast, we leave our hotel early morning for a drive with scenic views along the road to Pokhara via Prithivi national highway. The drive could take roughly 7-8 hrs to reach Pokhara. An alternative way to reach Pokhara is by taking a flight from Kathmandu to Pokhara for 35 minutes. Overnight at Pokhara hotel on Bed and Breakfast plan. (B/B)

Day 3Drive from Pokhara to Nayapool (1070). Trek to Ghandruk (1940m)

After taking breakfast we take a taxi from our hotel to Nayapul about 1-hour drive. Then. 4-5 hours trek to Ghandruk which is Largest Gurung settlement of Annapurna region where we could explore tradition and local lifestyle.

Day 4Trek to Chhomrong (2170m)

After breakfast, we ascend about an hour to the Ghandruk top and a steep descent to Kimron Khola (River), and climb up to Chhomrong with the outstanding view of Annapurna south, Machhapuchare (Fishtail) Himchuli and Nilgiri on our way to Chhomrong village. We stay overnight here; Chhomrong is a great place to have one more extra day if you have a time. It is absolutely an amazing place to observe the Mountain View and experience the local lifestyle; it’s situated at the lap of mighty Annapurna south.

Day 5Trek to Himalayan Hotel (2920m)

Today, after breakfast, we will walk through the lush forest over stone steps across Chhomrong Khola and then uphill through the deep bamboo and rhododendron forest to the village of Bambo and Doban, we take our lunch somewhere before reaching Himalaya, the trails follows continually upwards Modi river and water streaming section in jungle area, as we reach Himalaya, we set up our sleeping bags and down jacket while resting here because it’s quite a cool place, we stay Overnight at Teahouse.

Day 6Trek to Annapurna Base Camp (4130m) via Machhapuchchhre Base Camp (3720m)

After hot breakfast, our journey starts towards Machhapuchare base camp than Annapurna base camp, we walk through the narrow gorge Modi Khola glacier valley past the base of Machhapuchhre which ultimately takes us to Annapurna base camp. Walking in this area we will get a good chance to see Annapurna glacier very closed. Reaching Annapurna base camp that we can’t believe it while seeing a 360-degree view from Hiunchuli, past Annapurna South to Annapurna I (8,097m/26,566ft) and Khangsar Kang, Gangapurna, Annapurna III and Machhapuchhare. Mt. Annapurna I is the tenth highest mountain in the world. We spend overnight here at Annapurna base camp.

Day 7Trek to Bamboo (2,340 m)

Early morning, enjoy the sunrise view over the top of the Himalaya from base camp. After breakfast, we trek down (5-6 hrs) to Bamboo following the same trekking trial. We stay overnight at Bambo.

Day 8Trek to Jhinu Danda - Natural Hot Spring (1760m)

After breakfast at Bambo, we trek to Chomrung following the same trekking path as we followed that while trekking up to Base Camp before. Walk through the jungle while climbing up and down valley crossing the beautiful Gurung village of Sinuw, eventually going down from Sinuwa to River than we across the suspension bridge and start climb up after finishing our climbing few steps that we take a lunch break at Chhomrong village with sensational Mountain View of Annapurna south and Machhapuchare again. After lunch then we continue descending to Jhinu dada and we walk 30 minutes down to Hot spring place and come back to our hotel and spend overnight at teahouse.

Day 9Trek to Siwai (1100m) and Drive to Pokhara (820m)

After hot breakfast at Jhinu Danda, we will cross one of the longest suspension bridge to New bridge. Then, we will hike down to Siwai and take a private vehicle to reach Pokhara. Within the trek to Siwai is a lovely hike as you can enjoy the views of beautiful landscapes along the trail back. Siwai to Pokhara is about three-hour drive. Overnight at Pokhara hotel on bed and breakfast plan.

Day 10Drive back to Kathmandu

After early breakfast at a hotel in Pokhara. We will check-out from hotel and catch our tourist bus which leaves at 7 AM to drive us to Kathmandu and the driving will be a fantastic experience as we drive past many small towns on the way and we are able to see rural settlements, gushing rivers, terraces, and green rural landscapes. We will stop for lunch in between the travel from Pokhara to Kathmandu. After 6 hours drive, we will arrive at Kathmandu and stay overnight at your hotel. One of the Mount Mania representatives will invite you to attend a farewell dinner with a cultural show. Enjoy the fullest.

Day 11Departure

Mount Mania representative will help you to transport to Tribhuvan International Airport (TIA), Kathmandu by private vehicle before 3 hours to your scheduled flight.
